Community Events: Promoting the PPR Project and Engaging Local Sports Communities

Throughout the lifetime of the Erasmus+ Sport project “The Power of Public Relations in Sport (PPR)”, project partners actively promoted project objectives and results through community-based events organised at local and national levels. These events played an important role in raising awareness about the project, engaging sports stakeholders, and strengthening links with local sports communities.

Community events were organised in partner countries including Croatia, Serbia, Türkiye and Denmark, and were often connected to existing sports activities, workshops, meetings, or public gatherings. By using these formats, partners were able to reach sports clubs, athletes, coaches, volunteers, sport administrators, media representatives, and the general public in an accessible and informal setting.

During the events, partners presented the main objectives of the PPR project, explained the importance of public relations in sport, and shared preliminary and final project results. Special attention was given to promoting the educational guidelines on public relations in sport, the training activities, and the opportunities created by the project for sports organisations with limited resources.

Community events also served as a space for dialogue and exchange. Participants discussed current challenges in sports communication, shared experiences from their organisations, and learned how better PR practices can support visibility, reputation, sponsorship opportunities, and community engagement. Feedback collected during these events contributed to strengthening the relevance and dissemination of project outputs.

By engaging directly with local communities, the PPR project increased its visibility beyond the partnership and ensured that project results reached a wider audience. These activities supported the long-term impact of the project by encouraging broader use of the educational materials and by promoting more professional and strategic communication practices in sport.

Community events proved to be an effective dissemination tool, reinforcing the project’s European added value and contributing to stronger connections between sport, communication, and local communities.
